The Gentleman from Moscow by Amor Towels

What a lovely book! The writing is so elegant and lively, much like the characters in this novel. Set in the 1930s of Moscow, the Count is sentenced to house arrest in the classic and luxurious Metropol Hotel. Even though he lived in the hotel for four years prior to his house arrest, his new predicament invites him to see the hotel in a new light. He becomes close friends with the staff and meets guests that change his life forever. The Count’s attitude towards life is heartening, while his wit and charm are among other qualities that make him so likable. The bond the Count forms with certain guests really warmed my heart and keeps the reader locked in to discover more of the Count’s past and what will come in the future. The artful writing makes it easy to fall in love with the story and will make you wish you were royal and elegant too.
